Haydock MVC is delighted to welcome the 11th person to lead the choir in its almost 102 year history, Nicole Boardman, who officially joins us as MD this January! Nicole brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked with the Welsh National Opera and the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company among others and has also performed at the Royal Albert Hall, including the Last Night of the Proms.
Discussing her appointment for a press release on the St Helens Star website, Nicole said: “I’m really looking forward to starting with the choir and to continuing the high standard set by (former musical director) Dan Craddock. I’d really encourage any male voice singers from St Helens and beyond to come along to a rehearsal to hear the choir sing, and to see if joining the choir is right for them. We’ll be starting a new programme in January, so it’s an ideal time to join.”
Rehearsals recommence on Tuesday 7th January, 7pm, at Ormskirk Street URC, St Helens, and it is indeed an ideal time to join the choir for our new era, so if any interested men, or any former members who haven’t been for a while, are interested in seeing what the choir has to offer, or if you want to start a new hobby for the New Year, come down to our rehearsal, have a listen, chat to the men, you may even get a cake and a brew at the interval! We’re a friendly bunch, we love singing, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for HMVC under Nicole, so come and join us for the ride!
