A Fantastic First Half of 2026!

Our Musical Director Nicole Boardman reviews the year so far

The first half of 2026 has been an

outstanding period for Haydock Male

Voice Choir, with significant

achievements both on and off the stage.

A major milestone has been the

launch of our new website, providing

members with a central hub for

information and resources. Special

thanks go to John Mulvaney, whose

dedication and leadership made this

ambitious project a success.

Musically, the choir has enjoyed a busy season, performing seven concerts in

five months across the North West and collaborating with both Warrington

MVC and Aughton MVC. Every concert has been a success, attracting new

audience members and further strengthening HMVC's growing reputation for

excellence. Thanks to the hard work of our committee, every concert has also

generated a profit, providing a strong foundation for future opportunities and

growth.

We have experienced both sadness and celebration this year. We have

remembered dear friends we have lost, whilst warmly welcoming new

members into the HMVC family.

A significant change also came with the retirement of our longstanding

President, Sue Richards, as she moves abroad to support her growing family.

We thank Sue for her years of dedication and friendship. We are delighted that

respected long-serving member George Anderton has accepted the role of

President. George will be officially installed at our Annual Awards Dinner on

10th October 2026, and we could not think of a more deserving person to

represent the choir.

Our community profile continues to grow. We have met councillors and

mayors, secured charitable funding, and provided performance opportunities

for three student soloists, helping to nurture the next generation of musicians.

Celebrating a Remarkable Shanty Start to 2026

We are also proud of the continued success of the HMVC Shanty Choir.

Under the leadership of Rich Abley, the group has expanded its repertoire and

performed a successful standalone concert in aid of the Hargreaves Dementia

Trust. Our sincere thanks go to Rich and all the members of the Shanty Choir

for their enthusiasm and commitment.

Looking ahead, our future is brighter than ever. Collaborations are already

being planned with several choirs, our diary for 2027 is provisionally full, and

bookings are already being discussed for 2028.

Following a well-earned summer break, rehearsals resume on Tuesday 18th

August. Thanks to support from the Rainford Charitable Trust, we have

purchased exciting new music for our Christmas programme and the 2027

season.

Our next major event will be on 26th September 2026 at St Helens Town Hall,

where HMVC will join forces with The Hargreaves Dementia Trust and Gill

Burns MBE for a spectacular concert featuring a soloist from the Royal

Academy of Music in London, two local youth choirs, the Lancashire Artillery

Band, and HMVC.

Finally, thank you to every member of Haydock Male Voice Choir for your

hard work, dedication and commitment. Everything we have achieved this

year has been possible because of your efforts. I look forward to welcoming

everyone back for our winter concert season and to celebrating many more

successes as we continue building an exciting future for HMVC.
